Asynchronous Online Teaching Artistry for Educators Course
An asynchronous online course with Tom Godfrey
Teaching Artistry is a fully asynchronous, self-paced online course for teachers and teacher educators who want to reconnect with how they teach — not just what they teach.
Over 4–6 weeks, the course invites you to explore teaching as an embodied, relational and creative practice, bringing together Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Embodied Learning, Performative Pedagogy and Facilitation Skills into a single, coherent learning journey.
This is not a course about collecting techniques. It is about developing presence, awareness and intention in your teaching — and rediscovering the joy of the work.

Who this course is for
Teaching Artistry is designed for:
- teachers and teacher educators
- trainers, mentors and facilitators
- educators interested in reflective and human-centred practice
It is especially relevant if you are:
- curious about SEL, embodiment and facilitation
- reflecting on your teaching identity
- feeling technically competent but creatively or emotionally drained
- looking for a course that connects practice, presence and purpose
No drama or performance background is required.
What the course explores
Throughout the course, you will work with four interconnected strands:
- Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
Understanding how emotion, safety and relationship shape learning — for students and teachers. - Embodied Learning
Becoming more aware of voice, movement, attention and physical presence in the classroom. - Performative Pedagogy
Exploring teaching as a live, relational act rather than a delivery of content. - Facilitation Skills
Designing and holding learner-centred activities, discussions and reflective spaces.
Each strand is revisited and integrated, rather than treated as a separate topic.
What you’ll take away
By the end of Teaching Artistry, you will have:
- practical activities you can use immediately in your classroom or training context
- greater awareness of your teaching habits, choices and impact
- a clearer sense of your teaching identity and underlying values
- facilitation strategies for more engaged, participatory learning
- a renewed sense of purpose and connection to your work
You will also receive an official Teaching Artist Certificate from ITI.
How Teaching Artistry differs from the free community courses
You may already be familiar with the short modular courses in the Performative ELT community (SEL, Embodied Learning, Performative Pedagogy and Facilitation Skills).
Those community courses are:
- short and stand-alone
- designed as entry points
- ideal for dipping into ideas and discussion
- currently open-access while the community is developing
Teaching Artistry is different.
It offers:
- a clear structure and progression rather than isolated modules
- integration of all four strands into one learning journey
- guided reflection that builds week by week
- sustained focus on identity, presence and practice
A simple way to think about the difference is:
The community offers space to explore.
Teaching Artistry offers structure to integrate.
Some participants stay with the community for a while; others choose Teaching Artistry when they want a more coherent and intentional pathway.
Course highlights
